Mind The Gap
Artist Statement
Mind the Gap sets the scene on the ever so crowded and populated New York City Subway. In transit, the main thought easily can become the destination leaving the journey overlooked. These photographs grab the moments of still, of the waiting, when bodies return to normality in functions and habits and look to those who they recognize. In a small setting, so full of strangers the passengers gravitate to those they know. Showing I am with them, they with me, in all different forms of affection. Some mindlessly hold hands, or sit with legs touching in cramped spaces. Others pass the time reading to one another or holding conversations ignoring everything around them. Everyone is waiting to reach their destination.
